York Rescue Boat

York Rescue Boat is an independent lifeboat and search and rescue team based in York, North Yorkshire. Our work centres around the Rivers Ouse and Foss in York.

Uniquely we work to make the city safer by carrying out combined patrols by boat and on foot at high-risk times every weekend throughout the year as opposed to just responding to emergency calls.

Our team is on call 24 hours a day to provide assistance and specialist equipment to both the police and fire service.

The vast majority of our work surrounds mental health. We regularly interact with members of the public who are in distress and are either considering suicide or attempting suicide.

We would like to improve our training and focus so that we can deliver the best possible service when dealing with the public in York.
