Jaks World

Jak’s World is striving to prevent youth suicide by practical measures and support.

We have set up Jak’s World to support our youth who are stepping out in the real world and without guidance and support may find it a steep challenge.

We are raising £50,000 (via various fundraising activities) to establish a safe place for youth, in the form of Jak’s World Studio, where youth will be able to access support in the form of career and education advice, apprenticeships, jobs and interview support, music production and publication guidance and mental health support in the form of therapy and emotional health and wellbeing.

Jakub, our beloved son, friend and brother died of suicide on 02nd Feb, 2023. Jakub was extremely talented musician, a career he chose following remarkable achievements at high school. In his short but very successful music production career he earned fame and success from fans across the world, with high flying collaborations with Sony, Universal and other labels. His YouTube channel and vast music collection is the legacy he leaves behind for us to cherish

Not a single day passes, without us wondering, what if anything, we could have done to prevent his sudden passing.

As many of us have experienced in the months following, the profound loss and void left by Jakub in so many lives, has shaken the community. With the help of each other, we are healing together, however the following questions always come to mind!

  1. Could we have done something to support him?
  2. Only if there was a safe, secure and non-judgmental environment, where he could go and collaborate with his colleagues
  3. Did he have support, guidance, a helping hand available to help him choose the correct career, apprenticeship, or job – especially during and in the aftermath of Covid crisis?
  4. Did he have support and guidance available to help him choose correct resources to manage emotional challenges?
  5. Did he have access to a platform where he can showcase his musical talent?

While questions like these are only futile attempts of our grieving minds to bargain for his return, we know that he is not coming back. We are always going to love him, remember him and cherish him forever; however, we cannot allow another family/community to suffer similar loss.

Not anymore.

Many young people say they often feel lonely and that it's difficult to get the help and support they need. - Samaritans

For us the only way to continue following this loss, is by providing guidance and support to Youth by these practical measures, something we feel Jakub didn’t receive.

With this in mind, we have established Jak’s World with the goal of preventing the youth suicide by practical measures listed below.

Music - Establish the Jak’s World Studio, where music production will be accessible and affordable to young and upcoming artists. Jakub’s friends and collaborators are keen to volunteer their time and experience in this area.

Emotional health - Provide support to youth in the form of therapy and counselling services, mental health first aid and signposting to proper channels. Jakub’s mum is a qualified therapist, she along with other volunteers will lead this initiative.

Career and education - Provide career advice, CV and interview support, higher education courses or university selection support, guidance towards salary and finance management including debt and savings. Jakub’s dad has over 15 years of experience in this field and can support youth to make a solid start following their education. We will also look to enlist more volunteers in this area.

Exam preparation - GCSE, A Levels (or new equivalent) and other entrance exam support, guidance and funding for tuition.

Our fundraising activities to reach the total target of £50,000.

  1. Set up Jak’s World, website, Just Giving page, and other avenues to receive generous donations
  2. Organise Jak’s World Memorial Concert on 2 February, 2024 to mark one year anniversary of our loss, and remember Jakub with his favourite music performed live by some of his collaborators and other famous artists
  3. Sponsorship opportunities for local businesses on our website and at the concert
  4. Other fundraising initiatives in partnership with other charities, community interest companies, and organisations like Samaritans, Mind, and Papyrus.
  5. Applying for Government grants.

We've joined the ZSA to collaborate, share resources, and stay up to date.
