Our fourth programme in the series takes a different format.
In this episode, producer Ashley Byrne talks exclusively to writer Helen Garlick, who is taking over as Life Matters’ full-time presenter.
Ashley chats to Helen about her book No Place to Lie in which she writes about coming to terms with her brother's suicide, decades after he took his own life. For Helen's family the word ‘suicide’ was taboo, and it was only after her parents had passed away that she could begin to process his loss properly. Along the way, Helen discovered one member of her family had been harbouring another secret.
“When you keep a secret, keep something about yourself secret, it cuts you off from other people.” Helen Garlick
