3 million – ZSA training reaches new milestone
Since launching our first course in 2017, the Zero Suicide Alliance has grown into a global community of learners who want to feel more confident supporting others. Today, we’re celebrating an extraordinary milestone: our training has now been taken more than 3 million times.
This shows us how many people are choosing to build the skills and confidence to support someone who may be struggling with suicide, social isolation or loneliness. Every completion contributes to a wider cultural shift - one where talking openly about suicide becomes safer, more compassionate and more possible.
A global reach that strengthens prevention efforts
The training has been taken around the globe, from the UK and Ireland to India, Malaysia, Australia, the USA and many more countries. This international reach reflects a growing recognition that suicide prevention is something we can all play a part in.
Whether someone is refreshing their knowledge, taking a new course or learning for the first time, each completion strengthens the collective ability of communities to notice when someone is struggling and offer support early.
Building confidence and reducing stigma
Feedback shows that:
- 95% feel more able to recognise when someone may be struggling
- 95% feel more confident talking to someone about suicide
- 93% would recommend the training to others
- 93% rate the training as excellent or good
These outcomes matter. Increased confidence and reduced stigma are two of the most powerful drivers of early, compassionate intervention - and they’re essential to wider suicide prevention efforts.
Real voices, real change
Learners tell us the training has helped them feel braver, more prepared and more understanding. Some share that it changed how they think about suicide. Others say it gave them the confidence to support patients, colleagues or loved ones.
These stories show that learning doesn’t stay on the screen - it moves into conversations, workplaces, families and communities.
A collective achievement
This milestone belongs to everyone who has been part of the journey:
- People who created and shaped the courses
- Those who shared feedback, stories and lived experience
- Partners and organisations who champion the training
- And everyone who has taken, refreshed or shared a course
Together, you’ve helped create a community where more people feel able to talk about suicide, challenge stigma and offer support when it’s needed. Thank you for being a part of reaching this incredible milestone.
Looking ahead
We’re incredibly proud of our training courses, and that pride is strengthened every day by the feedback we receive. We believe one life lost to suicide is one too many, and we’ll continue developing accessible training and resources for anyone who wants to understand how they can support suicide prevention.
Over the next few months, we’ll be introducing new courses, including:
- Supporting a stranger suicide awareness training
- LGBTQ+ and suicide awareness training
- Older adults and suicide awareness training
We’re also excited to introduce licensing options for a ZSA e‑learning package, along with opportunities to commission ZSA to deliver virtual and in‑person training. These developments will help us bring ZSA training into more workplaces, organisations and community groups, strengthening suicide prevention efforts across the UK and beyond.
