ZSA falls just short at NHS 70 Parliamentary Awards

The Zero Suicide Alliance (ZSA) narrowly missed out on winning the Excellence Mental Health Care category at the NHS 70 Parliamentary Awards in London.

Nominated by local MP Luciana Berger, the former Shadow Minister for Mental Health, the ZSA was chosen as one of the 10 winners for the north region after a panel of experts sifted through 217 entries from Parliamentary MPs.

They were competing against three other entries at the awards lunch at the Houses of Parliament, which was won by the Dorset Armed Forces Community Health and Wellbeing Project.

The awards were attended on behalf of the ZSA by Joe Rafferty, Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust's Chief Executive and one of the founder members of the organisation, and Steve Mallen, founder of the MindEd Trust that was established following the death of his son to suicide.
