About the training
Our Healthcare Staff and Suicide Awareness Training is designed to raise awareness of suicide risk within the healthcare workforce and offer practical guidance on how to support someone who may be struggling. The course promotes compassionate understanding and encourages confidence in having potentially life-saving conversations.
Who is the training aimed at?
This training is suitable for anyone aged 16 and over who works in healthcare or has connections to those who do. While tailored to the healthcare context, it is open to all.
Our hope is that more people feel equipped to recognise when someone may be struggling and confident to offer support in a meaningful, informed way.
Training content and aims
By completing this training, participants will:
- Improve awareness of suicide and its impact within the healthcare workforce
- Develop understanding of suicide risk among healthcare staff
- Learn to recognise potential warning signs in those who may be struggling
- Explore coached scenarios that demonstrate how to approach difficult conversations
- Build confidence in offering compassionate, peer-to-peer support
- Understand how to sensitively signpost to appropriate help and resources
A certificate is awarded upon completion.
Length
This is a short online course that can be taken at your own pace. You can choose which sections to engage with based on your needs and interests. We recommend allowing at least 30 minutes to complete the training.
